#2 Illegal Immigration

#2 Illegal Immigration I believe that illegal immigration is a problem in the United States as a whole, but because of our location, California is one of the states that is hit harder by this economically life sucking disease. In California alone illegal immigrants cost us 10.5 BILLION dollars a year. Fifteen percent of the student body in CA is illegal costing us 7.7 billion to send them to school and 1.4 billion dollars of our hard earned money goes to health care for the people who are not even supposed to be here. Some people may argue that our nation would collapse if we were to send Illegal immigrants back to their country. They might say that these cheap laborers are the people that hold up our economy. This cannot be for the following reason; they not only cost us billions of dollars to live here, but the money that they earn they are not spending here but sending it back to their families thereby taking money out of the US flow. Also, if they did not take the places of our lower paying jobs then more Americans could be working in their place wheretofore there would be less homeless in the United States. Felipe Calderon (Mexican President) says that the flow of illegal workers to the United States isn’t going to stop but that the two countries need to work together. He isn’t doing anything to bridle these people, and why would he? They are making money and sending it back to Mexico so that the Mexican society and economy develops and grows larger. He also told US officials that illegal immigration is a fact of life and that they should just deal with it. I do not believe that this is the attitude that we should take on this subject. Illegal immigration is poisoning the US and we need to do something about it. It takes 1.1 billion dollars to incarcerate (or send the illegal immigrants back to wherever they came from) which is a much lower cost then the 10.5 billion that it costs to keep them here. I wish these people could stay and be able to take advantage of the opportunities that America provides, I just wish that they would do it legally and stop sucking the blood out of America through their illegal means.
